The Operative Centre of the University Clinic Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) renovated its ground floor and added another floor to the building to accommodate two new care units. Following the renovation of the new clinic, additional space in the Operative Centre is used as an extension for a new Heart Centre, built by Stuttgart construction company, Müller-Altvatter.
The research groups of the UKE moved into the new campus building– drawing together laboratory units that had previously spanned 71 locations. The five-floor, H-shaped building provides a total area of 11,000 square metres. Based on designs by Hamburg architects von Gerkan, Marg und Partner, the construction costs for the campus building amounted to 39 million euros, with the State of Hamburg and the German government providing financing under a master plan. Müller-Altvatter was the general contractor.
Müller-Altvatter utilised think project! to integrate its planners and subcontractors for these two projects within the UKE master plan. Access to design plans was made available to all project participants, using a central plan management approach with rule-based automatic print ordering. Two plan printing service locations (Hamburg and Stuttgart) were connected, while incoming and outgoing correspondence was managed and documented in full with the help of think project!.
