The unique museum design was created by architects UN Studio von Berkel & Bos. With a height of 47.5 metres, the building can be admired at a distance from the expressways and hills of Stuttgart. From the outside, the building appears to have three storeys, but actually comprises nine internal levels within its helix structure of two spiralling circuits. The museum offers 17,000 square metres of exhibition space with a ground area of 3,500 square metres.
The Mercedes Benz Centre Stuttgart, opening concurrently with the museum, houses the latest Mercedes-Benz cars for presentation. A remarkable design, the building sits on a terrain edge developed from a sloping park – with a glass axis connecting the centre to the museum, which is double its height.
Ed. Züblin AG, general contractor and technical director of the joint venture formed to execute the development, uses online collaboration platform think project! for plan management. think project! is used for plan submission and distribution, as well as automated print orders. Like many others, the project had been set up for Ed. Züblin based on a defined standard.
