Motorway R1 - Slovakia

Risk evaluation is critical for success

Located to the east of Bratislava in Slovakia the new dual expressway R1 will link the cities of Nitra and Tekovské Nemce, plus the northern bypass of Banská Bystrica.

The massive infrastructure project is being undertaken by Granvia consortium as a private entity and Slovakia represented by the Ministry of Transport, Post and Telecommunications.

The project is based on a 30-year contract covering financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the 52-kilometre expressway, which is made up of four separate sections.

Total project investment amounts to over one billion euros. The construction phase, lasting four years, has a total value of 900 million euros and will be carried out by Granvia Construction – subsidiary of Stavby and wholly owned by Eurovia CS (part of the VINCI Group). Once completed, the infrastructure will be operated by VINCI Concessions.

Online project collaboration provides control of planning and construction process

Granvia Construction decided to implement online collaboration platform think project! to gain better control of the entire planning and construction process. Therefore, the entire construction phase – including design and approval processes – plus comprehensive project documentation are mapped within think project!.
