Pedemontana Lombarda - Italy

A motorway at the foot of the Lombardy mountains

The Pedemontana Lombarda motorway project in Italy is part of the regional traffic system and consists of a 65-kilometre stretch of motorway extending from Cassano Magnago (A8) to Osio Sotto (A4) and includes a bypass of Como and Varese.

Additionally, a 20-kilometre stretch of suburban main road, plus a series of road works totalling 70 kilometres, will link the new motorway with the local traffic network.

Over 20 companies were involved in the project; including the planning groups, conveyor, principal, validation groups and the general contractor.

The primary requirement of the client Autostrada Pedemontana Lombarda S.p.a. was to have a flexible, yet efficient, mechanism to enable interaction between all involved parties and realtime sharing of the same information. At the same time, they needed to provide an official archive of all produced documentation – ensuring accessibility of all variants and subsequent documentation generated in the course of planning. So, Autostrada Pedemontana Lombarda S.p.a. decided to use think project!.

Using the platform makes it possible for the client to resolve major problems, facilitate checking and approval processes, ensure monitoring of document revisions, streamline communications between parties – and ensure preservation of all information relating to the project and its development.
