Metro Downtown Line 2 - Singapore

City invests in the development of a new Metro line

Planned completion: 2015
Construction volume of the two contracts: 332 million euros
Line length: 40 kilometres
New Metro stations: 33

ALPINE was awarded the contract for two sections of the second expansion phase of the Downtown Line of the Singapore Metro.

Singapore already has a well-developed city public transport system. The MRT (driverless Metro) is the fastest and cheapest method of transport in Singapore. To improve daily commuter traffic, the city is now investing in the development of a new Metro line. With a length of 40 kilometres and 33 stations, passengers will be able to travel directly from the north-west and east of the city to the centre, relieving the burden on the city's road network.

Alpine BeMo Tunnelling was awarded two contracts for the Metro as part of the expansion of the Downtown Line construction phase 2. Construction work on the 40-kilometre long, underground Downtown Line will be carried out in three stages. By 2020, the total length of the Metro will stretch to 278 kilometres.

For the development of the Downtown Line in Singapore, the project team decided to use the online project collaboration platform think project!. The platform supports collaboration between the international project participants over great distances and different time zones, and ensures structured project communication and documentation.
