Yukon Bay Adventure Zoo - Hanover/Germany

dan pearlman uses think project! to take care of project management at Hanover Adventure Zoo

Hanover’s Adventure Zoo offers a unique and unforgettable experience for visitors. Unlike any other zoo in Europe, it re-creates each animal’s natural habitat without any visible barriers. The ‘Yukon Bay’ theme world was constructed with experience architecture firm dan pearlman responsible for general project planning.

Exciting theme world over 26,000 square metres

In addition to the animal world of the Northern Tundra, which can be viewed in its natural habitat, visitors will discover the reconstruction of a small harbour town on the Yukon estuary. The harbour contains the main attraction and major design challenge of Yukon Bay – a run-aground ship which visitors can enter. Its hull is incorporated into a water basin which provides a home to polar bears, penguins and seals – offering a unique perspective of their lifestyle.

The challenge of building during day-to-day operation

As general planner, dan pearlman was responsible for coordinating all project participants. Extremely short planning and construction periods, coupled with the need to include existing structures in the project, posed particular challenges in the development of a highly complex and interlocking landscape while accommodating the zoo’s day-to-day operations.

Fast, documented information exchange

In order to effectively and securely manage and archive the huge volume of data and emails resulting from such a large project – while making information accessible to all involved – dan pearlman decided to use the online collaboration platform, think project!  The platform enabled dan pearlman to manage project data and plans effectively, providing for a fast, documented exchange of information with Hanover Adventure Zoo and all the planning partners involved – while reducing their own exposure to project risk.
