Buildings for EPFL Lausanne

Investing in innovation

One of the largest construction sites managed by general contractor HRS Real Estate SA – Crissier in Switzerland is the ‘Quartier de l’Innovation’ at EPFL (Technical University) in Lausanne.

Project profile

As part of a PPP project, the University is constructing five buildings with a total 27,000 square metres of office and laboratory space, to be used by national and international companies within close vicinity of the campus.

The EPFL will conduct a careful selection process for the companies seeking to lease space at various subject-based hubs (medtech/biotech, greentech, information and communication technologies) in the Quartier de l’Innovation. The basic prerequisite for successfully gaining a lease is a scientific partnership with EPFL.

The project dimensions are out of the ordinary; with a large number of technical subcontractors, the order volume to be processed, transferred and documented is huge. For the general contractor, which is playing a key role throughout the entire execution phase, communication and traceability are extremely important, and this is precisely where the online project collaboration platform think project! is proving to be a central and indispensable instrument for carrying out the work.
