Creating the conservation zoo experience
Chester Zoo’s 30 million pounds ‘Islands’ project is perhaps the largest infrastructure development in the history of UK zoos.
Chester Zoo’s ‘Islands’ project recreates a conservation expedition – bringing the islands of the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Bali, Sumatra, Sumba and Sulawesi to the heart of Cheshire in the UK.
The new Islands exhibit will showcase how conservationists work with some of the most endangered animals on the planet. Visitors will travel through the islands by boat and on foot, navigating mangroves, swamps, bamboo groves and tropical forests. Chester Zoo’s new Islands project is designed by German experience architects at dan pearlman.
