New platform capabilities transform project information into a governed digital backbone that connects delivery with operations through AI-powered information access and Handover from day one.

Munich, Germany – 8th July 2026 – Thinkproject today announced the launch of NextGen CDE and Handover, two connected capabilities that combine AI-powered information access with governed information management, redefining how project information flows from delivery through to operations.

The launch marks a shift in the role of the Common Data Environment. Rather than serving as a repository for project documents, NextGen CDE becomes the information backbone of the Thinkproject Platform – connecting people, processes and trusted information from project delivery through to operations.

For many organisations, project closeout remains one of the highest-risk stages of delivery. Incomplete asset information, disconnected systems and manual handovers often delay operations, create costly rework and leave owners without the trusted information they need when responsibility for an asset changes hands.

Together, the new capabilities help owners, operators and contractors move beyond disconnected documents, spreadsheets and late-stage handover packs towards governed, asset-centric information management. The result is stronger information governance, fewer gaps at project closeout and a smoother transition into operations.

We believe Handover starts on day one, not at project completion,” said Olivier Colinet, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Thinkproject. “We see the Common Data Environment as a  governed information backbone for every project. When teams can trust their information from the very beginning, they can move into operations with greater confidence and far less risk.

A next-generation Common Data Environment

Construction and infrastructure projects generate vast amounts of information, yet too often that information remains fragmented across multiple systems, making it difficult to find, trust and reuse. As organisations increasingly look to AI to improve productivity and decision-making, trusted, governed information has become more important than ever. NextGen CDE addresses this challenge by creating a secure, structured environment where project information is governed from creation through to completion, with native ISO 19650 compliance built in.

Built on more than two decades of Thinkproject’s experience in Common Data Environments, NextGen CDE combines structured metadata, configurable workflows, version control and auditability with embedded AI capabilities that help teams quickly find trusted project information. Because AI is grounded in trusted project information, users can find relevant information faster while maintaining security, permissions and compliance. Rather than simply storing documents, NextGen CDE creates a connected information foundation for collaboration, automation and AI across the Thinkproject Platform.

Handover from day one

While NextGen CDE governs information during delivery, Handover ensures that information is prepared for operations from the very beginning of a project.

Instead of waiting until construction is complete to assemble documents, asset registers, certificates, O&M manuals and model data, organisations can define operational information requirements upfront, collect and validate information progressively throughout delivery. The result is structured, evidence-linked asset information that operators can use immediately. By transforming Handover into a continuous digital process rather than a final project milestone, organisations gain greater control over both risk and quality, delivering validated asset information they can trust from day one.

Importantly, Handover can also be deployed alongside existing project environments, enabling asset owners to define, validate and structure operational asset information even where projects have been delivered using third-party Common Data Environments. This gives organisations a practical way to improve Handover quality and build a trusted asset register without changing established delivery systems.

Together, NextGen CDE and Handover help owners, operators and contractors replace fragmented documents and late-stage handover with governed, asset-centric information management. The result is stronger information governance, fewer gaps at project closeout and a faster, more confident transition into operations.

NextGen CDE and Handover are available now as part of the Thinkproject Platform.
